As a passionate supporter of the Anne Frank Trust, I am proud to be supporting their Single Moments match funding campaign. Over the next 36 hours, this appeal aims to raise £50,000 towards the rising costs of delivering the charity’s vital anti-prejudice education programmes online, in schools and with their young ambassadors across the UK. Every contribution of any amount will be doubled and your support will directly help us address prejudice and discrimination in our country. Learning from Anne Frank and the Holocaust, the Anne Frank Trust empowers young people aged 9 to 15 to challenge all forms of prejudice.
Developed over three decades and now reaching over 100,000 pupils a year, the Anne Frank Trust’s unique educational programme teaches the story of Anne Frank for its insight into the Holocaust and antisemitism, and as motivation to challenge all forms of discrimination today.
Sadly, shocking recent violence in different parts of Britain has coincided with unprecedented levels of antisemitism here in the UK, as well as a sharp increase in Islamophobia. Educating young people to be more positive towards their diverse fellow citizens has never been more necessary – and the Anne Frank Trust is outstandingly effective in doing it.
The 9 to 15-year-olds they educate become peer educators and young ambassadors, disseminating their anti-prejudice message across their schools, communities and online. And the latest evaluation from our research partners at the University of Kent shows that 87.6% young people they work with in schools become more positive towards at least one other group of people different from themselves as a result of their programmes.
