The Borehamwood Kollel was spearheaded by Dayan Ehrentreu זצ"ל who, long before anyone, envisioned that one day this quiet, leafy Hertfordshire suburb would settle 30 families of Bnei Torah (and growing!), shteiging in Torah.
His ears could almost hear the daily roar of the Kol Torah bursting from the bustling Beis Hamedrash and in his mind’s eye he could already see the faces of the 70+ children of the Avreichim and their devoted mothers taking them to school each day.
With his years of experience, the Dayan knew how much potential there was in the burgeoning community of Borehamwood. As he pictured adults learning Mishnayos and Gemoro for the first time, the delighted look of accomplishment on a school boy’s face when he completed his first Perek of Mishnayos with an Avreich and the girls’ chabura, led by Kollel wives, showing the true beauty of Yiddishkeit; he knew that the Kollel just had to become a reality.

Genuine Torah
There are so many reasons to support the largest Community Kollel in Europe.
Anyone familiar with our Beis Hamedrash will attest to the uncompromising emphasis on Hasmodo Even the most impactful community work is only undertaken outside of Seder. This is what enables us to build solid, genuineבני תורה and תלמידי חכמים who are building a new מקום תורה in Borehamwood and will become the future leaders of our Kehillah.
Sharing Torah with the Local Community
The commitment of our avreichim who after a day of intense sedorim, spend time during night seder to learn with others is truly impressive but if you really want to get a sense of how the Kollel is affecting the community, just ask the 100+ of community members who visit the Kollel.
Some are inspired by the Kollel davening, weekdays, Shabbosos, Yomim Tovim or over Yomim Noroim. Others will tell you how he or she has been deeply affected by a chavrusa or shiur that has brought the warmth of Torah to them and their families.
Besides weekly Chavrusos and the many events for men and ladies, the Kollel has 17 shiurim every week! After just a few years (2 of them Covid!) more than 150 local individuals learn from the Kollel week!
Supporting an Avreich in Borehamwood Kollel, increases the power of this מקום תורה, generating more kedushas hatorah and impacting all those around him in ways that can’t even be measured. Who can sense how the flow of kedusha draws others closer to Torah? Who can assess the life-changing impact as, at the end of each day, he returns to learn with his community chavrusa during evening Seder before rising early to deliver a pre-School Shiur at the local Jewish High School? Who can know how many individuals he and his wife meet and touch in the shops and his kids in the park each week?
