Minyan Santiago is a warm and welcoming Minyan (even during the cold winters!) that emerged during the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic. Our journey began when Minyanim restarted: we held our first garden Minyan on Shavuos of 2020. The “Garden” at Santiago was the natural and familiar choice for davening as the Low Fell Minyan had already moved to Santiago “The House” some years before.
GROWTH
The Minyan started with just 2 gazebos that served us through to ראש השנה. Our numbers quickly grew, necessitating the siting of 2 large tents capable of accommodating 98 persons for the ימים נוראים of that year: and attracting many מתפללים at the daily Minyanim.
FORMALITIES
With Covid restrictions coming to an end in 2021, it was agreed to formally become an official שול. This meant adding מגן אבות to the Friday night davening as well as finding a מנהיג. On 26th August 2021 a vote was held with members and R’ Zev Freilech was appointed as מנהיג.
PROJECT
Over the Winters following, the tent structure has been battered by the elements and we have come to a stage where they will not withstand a further Winter. This is why, with R’ Menachem’s blessings, we embark on a project to build a more permanent and resilient structure to secure the future of our Minyan.

We need your help to build this מקום תפילה. Your contribution will help us establish a permanent בנין that will not only accommodate our current community but also attract new members. Please join us in raising £95,000 to construct this place of davening and unity.
