In this scary and unprecedented times, the Stamford Hill community lost a special Neshumo, so very popular and loved by all Yechiel Yossi ז"ל known by all as “YY” was taken away from us at a young age of 20 years old.
“The entire community should participate in the writing of a new Sefer Torah” said the Baal Shem Tov, “and this will bring upon the termination of this dreadful pandemic”.
It all began in 1752 during the era of the Baal Shem Tov, when a terrible disease swept across Mezibuz, men women and children succumbed to the pandemic. With no end in sight, the community leaders turned to the Baal Shem Tov to save them from the plague, The Baal Shem Tov instructed the entire community to take part in the inscription of a new Sefer Torah. As soon as the writing began the pandemic subsided.
In light of the recent virus sweeping through the world and hitting Jewish communities especially strong, we have decided to take a lesson from the Baal Shem Tov in Mezibuz.
Consequently, we at Shabaton L’Menucha are writing a Sefer Torah in the memory of our beloved “YY’ to be used at the Shabbosim and getaways we make for these special children and adults, “YY’s” Classmates and Friends, as well to be used for any community needs i.e. Simchas, Shabbosim away or whenever required.
The funds will go directly to cover the costs of the Sifrei Torah.
We must act now! Be part of this Special Sefer Torah.
DO IT FOR YY, DO IT FOR YOURSELF
Let’s join and make this happen.
