What began over a hundred years ago as a small beacon of light in world shrouded by spiritual darkness has since evolved into a hub of unparalleled Torah activity.

The Manchester Rosh Yeshivah, Rav Yehudah Zev Segal zt”l, had a vision. He wanted to create a thriving Kollel of serious, committed yungerleit that would further the development of Torah in Manchester. Over the years, the Rosh Yeshiva’s hopes have borne fruit, as numerous chashuve rabbanim, dayanim, roshei kollelim, and maggidei shiur have continuously emerged from the Kollel serving Kehillos across the UK and further afield, bringing with them the broad knowledge and cheshek they acquired at the kollel.

Today, the Kollel, led by the Rosh Yeshiva’s grandson, Harav Yisroel Ehrentreu, remains a vessel through which the Rosh Yeshivah’s wishes come to fruition. Over the years, the Kollel has gained a reputation as a premier makom Torah that attracts serious and enthusiastic yungerleit; young men who join the chaburah and deeply enhance the special ruach and kol Torah.

Recently, our beis medrash has started to host a series of new programmes, including a Shabbos Kollel, Avos U’vonim and a likras Shabbos seder, to name a few. The vibrant ruach haTorah also attracts lomdim from the community who come and learn alongside our avreichim.

Only due to the ongoing support of our friends are we able to maintain and increase the stipends we pay our avreichim, so that they can focus undistracted on learning Torah, which is מגין ומציל. Indeed, this takes on added significance in today’s challenging times. Our annual budget now exceeds £350,000.
