{{matcher.matcherNotes}}

North West London Communal Mikvah Trust has built and now maintains two Mikvahs, one in Golders Green Crescent and one in Shirehall Lane Hendon.  The Mikvaos provide the local residents as well as the surrounding neighbouring communities with a beautiful, state-of-the-art environment for the observance of this beautiful and timeless mitzvah.

The Shirehall Lane Mikvah was fully refurbished circa 3 years ago at a cost of circa £2million+ and is considered to be one the premier Mikvahs in Europe. The committee worked tirelessly to complete the project without any debt, something that was BH achieved. The Golders Green Mikvah is over 25 years old and requires constant maintenance to ensure it is kept in full working order.

Whilst there is an entrance fee (which is regularly revised) the income simply does not cover the cost of running both of the sites. Costs are monitored as closely as possible, however significant rises in utility costs as well as security, maintenance and general costs all contribute to the significant shortfall.

It is also absolutely critical to ensure that both sites are maintained correctly both on a daily basis in terms of ensuring they are cleaned to the highest standards as well as on a hardware maintenance basis to avoid them falling into a state of disrepair over the coming years.

The income the charity has received from entry fees in the last 12 months was circa £150k per annum whilst the running costs have been £367k (with over £120k of the running costs being utilities). This therefore means there is currently a deficit of circa £200k+ per annum.

The Mikvahs are a key communal asset and part of the backbone of the NW Kehilla and we are appealing to those that are able to help us plug the deficit we currently have.

Whilst we appreciate that there are many demands from various institutions and individuals for monetary support, there can be nothing more important for a Kehilla than a Mikvah. Halacha states that constructing a mikvah takes precedence even over building a shul. Chazal are clear that there is an absolute priority to build, maintain and enhance a mikvah over all other communal institutions

With this in mind, we are asking for your crucial assistance so that we can continue this vital cause.

Your generous donation to this Mikvah Campaign will help us meet that sacred obligation, now and for generations to come.
