Torah Vodaas Primary School was established 20 years ago by a dedicated team of askonim, to address the need for another school serving the frum kehilla of North West London. From its humble beginnings of classes for just 15 children being held in spare rooms at Beis Hamedrash Sinai to the current student roll of  over 350 pupils ka’h it has grown to become the largest Orthodox Jewish Primary School for boys in North West London.

As the school expanded, suitable premises were sought to house the fast growth in numbers being attracted to this wonderful mosed and with a couple of other stops on the way finally in 2013 the school completed the purchase of West Hendon Police Station, being a site with large grounds and in an ideal location.

The new building with it is many police training rooms made it ideal to be repurposed as the school and B’H the school has continued to see continued growth. Areas of the building which were previously unusable have now been refurbished to house further classrooms and offices and plans are in place to include a spacious hall.

The school prides itself on the outstanding chinuch it provides to children in both the kodesh and chol departments right through the school, the pupils join pre-school at 2 years old and graduating after year 6 ready to enter High School. Pupils in the school are encouraged to reach their full potential, with staff trained to identify those children requiring extra support as well as the more gifted who can benefit from being stretched academically and nurtured further.

The Early Years has been ably led since inception by Mrs Rubin whose dedication to the children is evident in their knowledge and development through the years they are under her care. The children are taught in a loving and fun environment which is an excellent foundation to their continued growth as they move through the school.

In addition to the day to day activities in the school, the PTA arrange regular extracurricular activities for the boys, the highlight of which are the monthly Rosh Chodesh treats and the fun filled overnight trip for the boys in the top two years. Even this year, despite the challenges, the boys spent an uplifting shabbos in Bournemouth in the presence of their Rebbeim, the Menahel and the school governors.

As an independent school there is a significant financial burden with a budget in the region of £1.7 million per annum and whilst much of this is raised from the parent body there is still a considerable annual shortfall in income. Unfortunately we continue to find ourselves with a £500,000 annual shortfall which we must raise in order to keep the school running. To help achieve this, the school will be running crowdfunding campaign  with the goal of raising £500,000 in 48 hours. Every pound given will be equally matched by a generous group of matchers and we look forward to the kehilla’s support to achieve this goal.
