Qui sommes-nous ?

Imagine. Imagine a lady who has worked hard her whole life, now plunged into despair. Imagine a long happy marriage, shattered by a short, terrible illness. Imagine an almana, who cries herself to sleep every night. Not only does she have to contend with the loneliness and sorrow, she also has a constant financial stress. As she forces herself to get out of bed and put one foot in front of the other to continue her daily life, the worry nags at her relentlessly. Will I be able to pay the rent this month? Can I afford to put the heating on? How can I live like this day after day?

It is our responsibility to hold her hand, to support her, to maintain her dignity and independence. She is a part of our Family, and we cannot ignore her desperate pleas.

As we start the Bein Hametzorim, the saddest period in the Jewish calendar, what better way to show our Heavenly Father that we are all one Family, we are all embodying Ahavas Chinom, we are all ready for the Third Beis Hamikdosh.
